North
Dakota Reading Association is a Council of the
International Reading Association and was founded
in 1968. NDRA has local councils in all parts of
the state with a current enrollment of 1762
members. Association members are educators
involved with literacy from all areas of
education, many are classroom teachers,
librarians, Title 1 teachers, administrators,
Reading Specialists, college students and
professors.

In 2008 NDRA
was awarded the Horizon Award and theAward of
Excellence by the International Reading
Association for our hard work and
dedication of members who actively promote
literacy for North Dakotas children and
adults through participation in state and local
activities. The organization is committed to
universal Literacy. Four local councils met the requirements for Honor Council in 2008.
